History![]() Watson Supply Truck - 1950 Watson Supply Company was founded in 1948 by William E. Watson after serving his country in World War II as a Naval Flight Instructor. His short stint in selling Commercial Real Estate led him to discover an opportunity to “run his own business” by purchasing P.D.L Bar & Janitor Supply for the sum total of $400.00. As the original entrepreneur, he sold during the day and made his deliveries from his used 4- door Chrysler. A short time later his wife Virginia came into the business and together the business prospered guided by the principle that “prompt, courteous attention to the customer’s needs, no matter how small was the key to developing and maintaining loyal customers.” Ralph Waner, who joined the firm in 1955, was invaluable in helping guide the company during his 40 year tenure as Purchasing Manager and later General Manager. In 1975 Bill Watson, Jr. joined the company now known as Watco Supply Company. In the year 2000 the company adopted a new name, Watco Resources to reflect the new direction of the company whose focus was “beyond simply product and price” to a commitment to gain a deeper understanding of the customer’s true challenges and to apply new innovations and concepts to result in Lowest Total Cost Solutions. Today Watco Resources is guided by the leadership of Virginia Watson, Chairman, Bill Watson, President and Martha Dye, Administrative Leader.
